Full Script

Welcome back to Affiliate Marketing Profits from Home, in this segment we will discuss how you can market your offers and get the word out, This will include pay per click advertising, pay per impression, copyrighting, niche sites, creating landing pages and more.

There are three major players in Pay Per Click advertising and they are Microsoft, Yahoo, and of course Google, while most people see Google as a search engine they are really an advertising house and that is what they are really good at, yes they give great search results but that is only a method of delivering advertisements. So I am sure you keep hearing PPC and that stands for Pay Per Click and it means that every time someone clicks on your ad you will pay for it even if they do not purchase anything. So when employing pay per click you will really need to do some research and make sure that your offers can convert at a high rate. The goal of pay per click advertising is to drive people to your offer have them convert and make more than you pay. That is pretty self explanatory.

When you are doing PPC with one of top three you have the ability to target your ad to a specific keyword or groups of keywords, and you will need to do the research for the keywords that best work for you ad, now when you are doing keyword research I recommend using long tail keywords. Long tail Keywords are three and four keyword phrases which are very, very specific to whatever you are selling. When a customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy. In virtually every case, such very specific searches are far more likely to convert to sales than general generic searches that tend to be geared more toward the type of research that consumers typically do prior to making a buying decision, and what do we want? Conversions! So lets look at an example, if I was marketing a Dell Laptop would I go with Dell Laptop as my keywords or would i go with a Dell Latitude D630 which is a exact model? Well a person searching for the D630 would be more likely to purchase and that is what I want, does that mean I have to use the brand I am selling? No, you could be selling an HP and advertising on the D630 keywords if you are selling a similar model and can tell a person why the HP is better, this is done often. You will see ads all over that say “Do not buy till you read this”.

Make sure when you are picking your keywords that there is enough search volume and the competition is not extremely high for what you are targeting otherwise you will either be paying too much or not getting enough exposure. Long tail keywords are generally a little less expensive. Remember you are paying per click so you can get a million impressions and not get but 2 clicks and that is all you paid for, however if your click through ratio is low your quality score will go down with Google which may make you pay more per click.

When you are writing your Pay Per Click ads make sure you use truth in your advertising and with negative filters. I know you are surprised to hear negative and advertisement in the same topics however it can really help get quality clicks and that is what you need, anyone can write an ad that will get thousands of clicks but when you are paying for your ad do you want someone to click or buy? For example, lets say I am selling an e-book on this course and I am selling it for 9.99. I can write this ad: Learn how to use affiliate marketing to generate passive income streams. I would probably get a great click through rate but a low conversion rate, so lets go with some negative filters and get a higher conversion rate, now this can cause my quality score on the ad to go up and I may pay more per click but generally I could make more sales because of it, so here is my new ad. Download today and learn how to use affiliate marketing to generate passive income streams for $9.99 today. I have just filtered out people who are looking for something free and that is important, I also let them know that you can have it today and what it will cost. Now if a person clicks the ad they know they will be expected to pay $9.99 to get this e-book.

Make sure when you are doing Pay Per Click advertising that you write several different ad copies so you can test which ones generate the best conversions so you know which ones to spend more money on, do not just setup one copy and hope it makes you money. Remember also that a lot of affiliate offers will not let you bid on some keywords so make sure you are in compliance with the offer so you do not lose any sales you do generate.

Budgeting is something you will want to look at too, you will want your campaigns to run over multiple days because some days might be better converting days then others so budget wisely you do not want to run your whole advertising budget in a few days, but the only way you will know the better converting days is if you use tracking code, if you are not tracking your PPC campaigns you are just throwing money away and you might as well quit now. You will want to track conversion rates, and click through rates both of these numbers can give you a good picture on your campaign and let you know if you are overpaying or if you are just right, sometimes you will even notice that you could be underpaying but thats a good thing. Google Analytics will let you track conversion rates and you can set goals, like for example you can set the landing page as step 1 in a goal and track a click event on the affiliate link as step 2. Now if you controlled the whole processes it would be even better because you could set the checkout page and the thank you page as other steps and watch as people go through it. Now with Clickbank you can actually give them the code via the web interface and they will put it on all pages that come from your links so you can see conversion rates and this is a great thing. Just I can not stress enough, make sure you are using any tracking you can find and keep up with the numbers, they could make you or break you. Being an affiliate marketer is not just putting some links out you have to know what is working and what is not so you can keep making the ones that work and stop using the tricks that do not.

CPM or Cost Per Milli marketing is when you go and look for websites you can run your ad on and pay by the impression you will normally buy these impressions in magnitudes of thousands, and will pay what the cost is to run 1,000 impressions. So if I have a CPM of $1.00 and someone wants to run 20,000 impressions I get $20.00 for the ad, now this does not mean that you will get any clicks its just exposure with the chance for a click, however it can be benificial to the affiliate marketer if you are trying to build a brand, for example if I wanted to sell cell phone accessories with affiliate links I could create a brand that does this and if I want brand exposure I could buy ads on other sites. You can also use this for single offers and I have found it to work from time to time.

One thing you need to be aware of however is the demographics of the site, you do not want to be advertising high dollar items on sites that have low dollar visitors, but how do you know the demographics of the site? There is a great tool for this and its call quantcast, You can find them at Quantcast.com and they have methods of determining demographics, what business visit the site, what sites visitors also read and more information, this information is vital to knowing what ads will work in that group and what will not. If you do not pay attention and use these tools you will lose money, that’s not an assumption thats a fact. In order to be a successful affiliate marketer you will have to know your target audience and how to reach them.

One of the things I harp on is niche sites, I can pitch Niche Blitzkrieg till I am blue in the face because it works, I have been around for a while in affiliate marketing and website creation and this is the only program I can really get behind, this is not a get rich quick idea, this will just do the simple things of walking someone through creating a site and how to get the best results out of it. I use the program and now I will explain how it works. Niche Sites are an excellent way of doing affiliate marketing and can bring some of the best results because a lot of your traffic you are not paying for and free traffic is king in affiliate marketing. How do you find a niche and what do you do with it is the only tricks you will have to learn. A Niche site is a site that is in a sub market for example if a market is “Grills” and we want to target a smaller market we could go with “Gas Grills”, “Indoor Grills”, “Charcoal Grills”, “Smoke Box” or other sub markets in that broad market, and why we want to do that is so we can go after long tail keywords, because as we established earlier long tail keywords are more likely buyers. As an affiliate marketer you do not want to waste your time on window shoppers as they will just ruin your day, you need people who want to buy and niche sites with long tail keywords will generate those buyers.

How a niche site will work is you will find your market and your long tail keywords, you will buy make sure you have hosting, and perferably from someone like Fat Cow Hosting, and you will purchase your domain name. When you get all that setup you are ready to start creating your site, I will not go over everything here because it is gone over in such detail in Niche Blitzkrieg and its a very long topic. Once that is done you will start writing articles for your new site around your keywords and information and these are to bring you organic search results, traffic from search engines is a perfect source for affiliate marketing but you have to have content that people will search for and you have to get indexed into these search engines. When you are creating your niche site make sure you can get the search results to push enough traffic.

The last thing we are going to cover today is Landing pages, a landing page is a presales page it is where you want your people to end up when they click on an ad, this is the best place to prepare the visitor for what is to come on the next page, sell them the product again because all they did was click an ad they do not know what is really going on, so you sell them the product and you really get them to want it before you send them through your affiliate link. This will let you get the visitor excited about what you are doing. These landing pages will generate a lot more sales then direct linking to the advertiser as they are ready to buy when they click.

There are several affiliate networks that you can use and they all have different programs but they all serve the same purpose. The purpose of a network is to bring publishers and merchants together, the other thing for networks to do is make a few dollars from that fusion. Some networks are all digital products like Clickbank and others are physical products and some mix both. I use a couple of networks, Linkshare, Commission Junction, Share a Sale and sometimes Clickbank.

Welcome to Scam Cast Episode 8 recorded December 19th 2009 and Happy Holidays, We will not have another podcast until after the Holidays so enjoy them and be safe. Today we will be discussing Affiliate Marketing Networks in our Affiliate Marketing Profits from Home segment, before we get into that I want to go over a few things that are going on with this podcast and some future items we are working on. Scam Cast will be moving its podcast over to The Conversations Network which is a network idea I am starting to bring some podcasts together both video and audio, Scam Cast will be going to a video version as soon as the new studio is complete, we will still produce the audio only version as well. We can still use your help on that you can go to www.scamtimes.com forward slash donate if you would like to help out with a dollar or two. Our intentions are to turn this into a scheduled weekly show that could be watched live. We also are looking for a co-host which can be done over Skype if needed If you are interested in that send an email to scamcast@scamtimes.com. We bring you the show now.

Some news as well, it has pretty much been completed I will be interviewing Roger from DazzleSmile in the next week or so and have it out for all the listeners soon, I will be asking questions about the lawsuit, why did they choose the people they did business with, and what consumers can expect from this lawsuit and is there anything in it for them. That is all coming soon on Scam Cast

Welcome back to Affiliate Marketing Profits from home in this segment we will discuss networks what networks are around what they can do for you and how to sign up.

So How do I pick a network?

This depends 100% on what you are working on, what niche you are in, and how you plan to market. Some niche markets you may pick may offer mostly digital products and some will be only physical products, some of the best niches offer both. You should pick the networks you want to belong to by the offers they have and how they fit in, some networks you may never use and some you will use more often. I do not recommend signing up with only one network as you should belong to several. Now if you only have one niche site up now then you can probably stick with one network and try to give excellent results for that network, I also recommend that when you are signing up for a network that your site fits the network as some networks will deny applications.

Lets touch on a few of the networks around and what they can do for you, these are not in a particular order:

Linkshare (www.linkshare.com) is a large network, you will not have affiliate managers with this network and the clients include AT&T, Macy’s, Apple and more large names, I use Linkshare for a couple of sites and it is one of the easier ones to get accepted into.

Commission Junction (www.cj.com) as another very large network, thousands of offers for just about every niche, you can even use Commission Junction to create search results such as if I wanted to sell indoor grills I could create a link to a company’s search page that would list all the indoor grills.

ClickBank (www.clickbank.com) this is a digital network, almost everything sold is a e-book or program, now I have noticed that with Clickbank you have to be very careful as a lot of scams listed and we want to be ethical marketers so we will need to review our offers close to make sure we do not promote anything that could be seen as unethical.

Share-A-Sale (www.shareasale.com) is a smaller affiliate network that does not offer affiliate managers but provides a lot of tools, some of the clients auto approve and a lot of clients have a data feed which can be useful for some more advanced affiliate marketing and automation.

There are others icommisions, hydra, express revenue, pepper jam, cx digital copeac and many more, I do not recommend any of these networks because I have not done any business with them and I more than likely will not.

Does reputation matter?

To some people this may not matter but to me this is the main thing, when I am dealing with an affiliate marketing network I want a reputable company and one that has been around a while, I will not do business with networks who have a bad reputation, for example Azoogle has had a tarnished past and is now in litigation with dazzlesmile for this reason I will not do business with them, When you make a sale with your affiliate link the network gets your money and holds it till they get paid and the time comes to pay out, I do not want my money being held by a company who may or may not be around later. Also because I am strict on being ethical a lot of these tarnished reputations attract the wrong offers, several of the scams we have uncovered where being offered to marketers by Azoogle, NeverBlue and other networks. For this reason alone I will not work with several of these companies.

As far as large or small networks and affiliate managers does this all mater? I have never worked with an affiliate manager mostly due to the fact that they are nothing more than sales people, however they do have some benefits that can be obtained from them, if you are on a network that has affiliate managers and you are really rocking out the sales your affiliate manager will end up loving you. They will do anything to help you including opening up the door for negotiations on your pay outs, sometimes they might not be able to raise your payout but often they can. But you have to be performing. The other thing they can bring to the table is other offers you may not be aware of that would fit what you are targeting, the job of the affiliate manager would be to understand you and what you are going after. However remember they are sales people and driven by the bottom line so they can be high pressure and they may not be really interested in what you are doing if you are not performing.

I tend to drift more towards the larger networks just due to the fact that they have more stability and they will not be going away anytime soon, they also have worked the kinks out and normally operating as they should, these networks did not get big by not performing either, and the larger networks also normally bring the larger clients. Lets be honest it’s easier to sell a high dollar tv from a Best Buy offer than by one from Jim Bobs Television Sales & Repairs. Big names can bring trust.

Welcome back to Affiliate Marketing Profits from home in this segment we will discuss networks what networks are around what they can do for you and how to sign up.

Why People Fail

Welcome back to the Affiliate Marketing Profits from Home series presented by Matt Jezorek, In this segment we will discuss why people fail at affiliate marketing and what you can do to make sure you are not one of the failures. We will go over peoples objections to affiliate marketing as well as how to get your mind back into a successful mode.

The number one reason people fail at affiliate marketing is this: It’s not a one day task, its an on going job that requires attention and learning, you will have to stay on top of your promotions and see what is working and what is not, You will need to find methods that may not be the normal for promoting your affiliate links while still remaining ethical in your practices. You may even have to join multiple networks which we will discuss in the next segment to find the one that works the best for you and has the most offers for the particular niche you are targeting.

Many affiliate marketers seem to think that if you throw several offers on the same page people will somehow just flock to your offers and buy them, affiliate links are best mixed in with content that supports the link so that a user would want to click on it, a hodge podge of crap on a page will not make me want to click on of your offers. When you throw a ton of links on a page and hope for the best the only thing you have is a link farm and you will not get page rank or search engine results from it, you really have to take time and develop your program. Your links must match your content and fit in with the general theme of your site. For example with this podcast it would be acceptable for me to use affiliate links for affiliate networks or hosting because both can be needed for successful affiliate marketing.

The other reason I have seen people fail is elementary, you can not throw an affiliate link somewhere and expect it to make sales without traffic you will do nothing, on most of my sites I can convert 1 to 2 percent of the traffic this means for every 100 visitors I might get one or two sales, on my main site which discusses and exposes scams I have a even lower rate of about .2% because everyone is already skeptical on all links. You will have to get traffic to be successful in affiliate marketing that means you must provide something of use to the niche and users.

Does it take money to make money?

It does not take a lot of money but I do recommend some basics I recommend getting good hosting that you can pay for once per year and have it all year, I recommend looking at Fat Cow and there are links in the show notes for this recommendation, you can pay $66 dollars and get unlimited domains for all your niche sites, I also recommend if you are new to creating niche sites that you look at Niche Blitzkrieg the review that Scam Times did is in the show notes and is a good read, this will cost you $77 dollars one time and will get you started and you should have your first niche site up in the first day. The support you will receive from this will come from the author as well as myself.

However these costs are not required 100% of the time, you can do affiliate marketing without a domain using classified ads, or other methods of driving traffic to your affiliate links like pay per click advertising, however you will quickly learn that in order to create a successful business you will have to spend some money, so $143 dollars plus the costs of domains is not that bad of a startup cost. Remember anyone who tells you that you can get something for nothing is lying to you.

I know you have heard about no website affiliate marketing and we touched on it above, it can be done and people have done okay with it, I personally do not recommend it because you are relying on someone else to keep your links and offers up, remember this as well a domain and website can bring you more traffic and other revenues besides affiliate marketing. Lets say you came across this awesome niche that was low competition but high search rates, would you want a classified ad running or a whole website dedicated to that niche that will allow you to present more and more offers as your traffic grows. Remember in affiliate marketing its a numbers game and traffic is king.

You know the best thing about affiliate marketing? It requires no telephone calls, no talking to people unless you want to and the freedom to work your own hours, however I do not recommend quiting your day job or stop looking for a day job because the learning curve is steep and it can take months or even years to generate enough income to work on it alone, I have been affiliate marketing for several years and its only a supplemental income to me however this is what I want it to be, as I would go crazy just sitting around.

Can you think outside the box?

Do you read the internet and just follow what others do or are you the type of person who makes your own path, because if you are just going to blindly follow in your promotions you might not do as well as if you can think outside the box and find methods of affiliate marketing that are not being done or have not been fully examined. For example, anyone can make a review site and then review products with affiliate links and other things but can you find a new way of doing it? How about creating a podcast that reviews stuff and use affiliate links in the show notes. There are many other ways to come up with ideas, but you have to think outside the box and stop thinking what others think.

You also must be willing to learn new things all the time, the best affiliates are always looking at new ways to promote the products or services they can make a few dollars off.

Hi, My name is Matt Jezorek some of you already know me because I run scamtimes.com recently there has been a lot of people who have found my site by my expose’ on the Anthony Morrison Advertising Profits from Home which is about affiliate marketing. I was not impressed with the book and what it would bring so I am working to bring this to you here. I want to introduce them to the affiliate marketing from someone who is not trying to sell anyone anything, the Anthony Morrison book gets you on the phone list to get called about upgrading and being coached and coming to conventions and so on and so on, this is a no holds bared full truth about affiliate marketing, what it is, what it’s not, how to do it, and more related information. During this series I will be taking the time to explain everything I can and more, if you have questions during this series you can contact me at matt@scamtimes.com and I will respond to your questions. Thank you for listening and enjoy the series.

The question what is affiliate marketing is probably in your mind or you have wondered this in the past and went out and learned about it some, I want to give you the definition of affiliate marketing and give you a break down on rolls and types of affiliate marketing and a little more information that should help you out. This segment of the series is called Just What Is This Affiliate Marketing Thing?

The definition of affiliate marketing from Wikipedia is this: Affiliate Marketing is an internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. It is an application of crowd sourcing. [1]

Now in my terms this means that there are companies out there who will pay you to bring them customers, you become your own little marketing house and you get paid by how good you are at bringing traffic or customers. Now the definition says each visitor and I would argue that the majority of all the affiliate programs will need you to bring a customer and we will go over that when we discuss the payment methods affiliate marketing networks and programs will use and get you acquainted with the lingo of advertising and affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing has 4 key rolls and they are as follows, the merchant, the network, the publisher and the customer. In all cases as an affiliate marketer you are the publisher and you are responsible for bringing the customer.

The merchant can be a variety of people or companies from large to small, Best Buy and other large corporation use affiliate marketing to bring more sales also smaller organizations and in some cases single people can use affiliate marketing and become the merchant if they have a product, so no matter what if they have a product for you to sell they are the merchant.

The network is an intermediary they bring the merchants to the publishers, you will normally sign-up with a network like Linkshare or Commission Junction and they will give you all the Merchant programs you can join, however this is not the only way to find merchants, you can go and individually find affiliate programs for pretty much any niche you are looking in. You can do this with Google mining and search for niche name +affiliate program. This will get rid of the network but to me networks are very important because I do not need to look for all my merchants, they also provide valuable tools for deep linking and some merchants upload creatives etc.

The Publisher? Well thats you, your job is to do just that publish marketing offers or finding new ways to market products provided by the merchant and network, this can be by pay-per-click advertising, creating niche sites like described in Niche Blitzkrieg which is the method of affiliate marketing I recommend, and there are many other options on how to market. Some methods that are recommended by other programs I strongly recommend not doing, such as: Craigslist spamming, spam emails, cookie stuffing and more.

The customer is anyone who wants to buy something which means we are all customers and more than likely 99% of the time an affiliate has already made money on each and every one of us if we have ever purchased anything online.

So that is the 4 roles of affiliate marketing, next we are going to talk about some lingo and payment methods that affiliate offers will present, we will go over the following terms, CPL, CPC, CPA, and CPM

CPL stands for Cost Per Lead and what that means to the affiliate marketer is this, some merchant will pay you for every lead generated from one of your leads, it could be sign-up for an email list, or fill out a simple form. It will not need a purchase, some of the leaders in CPL is insurance companies they will pay you for someone who fills out a form for a quote or fills out an application, it could be a short or long form. These typically pay a few bucks but sometimes more. These can be good to promote if you can find a good niche because it costs nothing to the customer. These can be great and high conversions if you can get the traffic and clicks to support it.

CPA stands for cost per action, this normally means a purchase and what 90% of all affiliate marketing offers come down to, such as I could say I will pay you 10% of all sales generated from your website, so anytime someone comes to your website clicks a link and buys something you get 10% this can be huge rewards if you have the right niche and are offering the right items. Now mind you in all affiliate marketing if you can not get the traffic you will not make money. I have seen some offers that combine Cost Per Lead and Cost Per Action together taking our insurance quote above, you may get paid $10 dollars for someone filling out a quote request and $25 for everyone who purchases the insurance leading you to a $35 dollar pay out.

CPC stands for cost per click, these are rare but they do exist in some cases, Cost Per Click means you will get X amount of money each time someone clicks on your ad, if you are creating niche sites and doing affiliate marketing you can also ad AdSense to your website or other advertising and get a little money anytime someone clicks on an ad on your site, this is how I make the majority of my money on scamtimes.com.

CPM stands for Cost Per Milli which is roman for Thousand its simple the Merchant or Advertiser will pay you X amount of money for every thousand impressions of the ad, this will also be used in most cases to decide the worth of an offer you are running. So combined with the Cost Per Click you can easily decide if you are spending too much money promoting an offer.

That wraps up the 4 terms you will need.

So now we can talk a little bit about money, one of the things asked often is when do I get paid? Depending on the network but in most cases you will get paid monthly for any sales generated the previous month, now most of these networks have a minimum you must reach to get paid for example $50 or $100 dollars. This means you must make this before a check is cut. While at first this can seem to be a problem once you get the hang of things you will be getting this every month. Affiliate marketing will only make what you put into it, so you must do your research, and put in the work to gain from affiliate marketing. In most cases a check will be cut but some affiliate networks will pay via direct deposit or even PayPal.

However do not limit yourself to networks, you should reach out and look at other programs that may be direct with the Merchant, these can sometimes be more beneficial then the offers from the networks, the networks just make it easier to get started.

This wraps up the first installment of Affiliate Marketing Profits from Home with Matt Jezorek, for more information about this program you can visit scamtimes.com. Tune in next week when we will discuss Why people fail!

We have changed the game, in the past we have focused on exposing scams and programs that will not make you money, its time to go positive, while we will still focus on exposing scams, we feel we can better serve your needs by attempting to help you make money on the internet.

The goal of ScamCast is to bring you a product or program review every episode so that you can start making money on the internet. One thing that all these scams have in common is they are promising to help you make money on the internet. So we feel that we will just take the place of the scams and give you honest, fair, and unbiased reviews that will help take you to the next level. But do not forget we will call a scam a scam,

We hope you enjoy the new format, if you would like to be a guest on Scam Cast fire off a quick email to scamcast@scamtimes.com. We hope in the future we can find a cohost as well so you are not just listening to my drivel

Dazzle White Profit Margins

We have went over in the past the Dazzle White scam and who runs it I do not really thing we need to get into that today but what I do want to quickly touch on is how much money they are really making.

Albert a reader who is always finding me good information and emailing it found where you can buy wholesale these teeth whitening pens with the same active ingredients as dazzle white is trying to sell, he found these pens with custom packaging for one dollar and fifty cents to three dollars and fifty cents.

So just what is Dazzle White trying to sell you these pens for? I believe the last number i seen was eighty seven dollars. Thats one hell of a markup. In fact if we bought 500 pens at three dollars and fifty cents we would end up paying seventeen hundred and fifty dollars and then sell them like they are doing for eighty seven dollars we would stand to make about fourty one thousand dollars per five hundred pens. Since dazzle is going to autoship you these pens chances are they are not having a problem getting rid of inventory.

These people are making a ton of money and can afford all the fines that the FTC puts on them. The only way to stop that kind of profit margin is to shut the business down. But whats the chances of that happening ?

How these scams travel the internet

Since affiliate marketing is so prevelant and how several people I know make money, hell I even make money with affiliate marketing it makes a great target for scams, We went over affiliate marketing a little in episode 1 so if you need a quick touch up on what affiliate marketing is I recommed you listen to it.

Affiliate marketing from the product producer side is a very cheap way to get advertising and sell product, most affiliate marketing is what is called CPA or cost per action, that means they do not pay an affiliate unless a lead or a sale is created. These CPA offers are crazy I have seen some that pay out fourty dollars or more per “free trial” that is signed up, unethical affiliates jump on these because they will and do convert at a high rate

These unethical affiliates normally come from taking a CPA course online that will tell them to create these fake blogs, and spam craigslist and other methods of so called marketing they only care about the conversion.

What this means is the scams spread like a virus and there is no way to inocculate, we have seen this around all types of these scams, Dazzle White has CPA offers, Google Treasure Chest and other Google Scams have also used these, we have seen offers from Pacific WebWorks involved and in some cases I think Pacific WebWorks is using other CPA offers to extend its profit margin. These are deplorable but can not be stoped easily

We have seen some new policies from the FTC recently about disclosure in affiliate marketing that will require some of these fake blogs to either come down, provide disclosure which i have seen several of them do or run the risk for a eleven thousand dollar fine. Notice how the affiliate gets fined and not the company for the crappy products. But not all affiliate marketing is for these types of products and not all affiliate marketers are unethical.

This is just how they spread so quickly, remember if you are going to get into affiliate marketing if you would not buy the product or use the offer, dont offer it to your lists, blogs, or other methods of marketing. Save face, and be smart about your marketing and become an ethical marketing genius, you can make the same money and still sleep at night.

Complete Script

This week on As Seen on TV We will be discussing a Call to Action, Google Scams, as well as 10 Signs to Identify A Scam, This is Episode 3 recorded for October 18th 2009.

On Tuesday I got an email from a reporter in LA working for Fox News, he wanted more information or research notes on the Google Scams that I have worked on, Kevin Hoeffer and the related websites. He asked a few questions did a quick interview I guess is what you could call it and asked about going in front of a TV camera, I have no objections to this so I figured I would say yes, but what we are really needing is you the consumer. I know someone out there has been affected or knows someone who was affected by this scam and would be willing to come forward. Here is why we need you, He can report on a story and I can go in front of the camera but what are we really doing if we do not have someone affected by the scam to be the teeth of the story. You can remain anonymous, you dont have to put your face on a camera but a quote would be awesome.

You do not have to be ashamed about falling for the scam its very easy to do, they used the Google name to bring the scam into your house since Google is a Household name so my plea and call to action is if anyone is affected or knows someone affected by this scam to get in touch with me or this reporter. You can find the blog post in the show notes for this episode.

We want to get the word out quickly and efficiently, this reporter even mentioned directly confronting
the parties involved to get the answers to any questions that comes up and see what the consumer can do. Mind you they are not doing anything illegal so this is our only recourse. We as consumers have to stand up for consumers everywhere and get the right thing done.

If all we can get out is a news article or a 30 second clip on the news I am fine with that we just need you. Can you answer the call? Do you have what it takes to be the teeth of this argument to attempt to put a stop to what is blatantly a sham? Email me at matt@scamtimes.com.

[Music Interlude]

We are going to take a few minutes and talk about all the google scams that are running around as well as touch on company that is running these scams, we will touch base on what else they are running as well. Most of these sites include some claims to get you all excited which are false, such as on Kevin Hoeffers domains it normally says follow these steps to making riches with Google

“Step 1: Go to this link, fill out a basic online form and hit submit to get your Google Money Kit. Pay the $1.95 for shipping.
Step 2: Follow the directions in the Google Money Kit and set up a Google account. Then they will give you the website links to post. Start posting those links. Google tracks everything.
Step 3: Google will start sending their first check to you in about a week or two. Or you can start to have them wire directly into your checking account. (Your first checks will be about $500 to $1,500 a week. Then it goes up from there. Depends on how many links you posted online.)”

Here is one problem since I use AdSense and have been using it for a while you do not get a check every week Google mails checks monthly and normally about 1 month behind. Meaning I will get Octobers earnings near the end of November. I also enjoy that you pay 1.95 for shipping but download the ebook in many cases.

They also show all these big checks that are obviously fake, like the name does not curve with the check, or other various oddities but the biggest one of them all is that if you run the routing numbers on the checks against routingnumbers.org you will find that the routing numbers on the check do not even exists. And looking closely at the check it seems like the checks I can print out using Quicken.

So how did this scam propagate Not to long ago Facebook, MySpace and other social media sites were inundated with ads for making money with Google, and articles about Kevin Hoeffer the accountant, plumber, and other random jobs and his twins. We did some digging and found out a little information but when I went back to dig some more I found other companies as well doing the Google scams. It seems that the Kevin Hoeffer and related websites are actually affiliates for another organization.

The good news is Facebook removed the ads because they where against the terms of use for advertising in section 9 which talks about Subscription Services. They say that a subscription service must clearly and accurately display the price and billing interval on the landing page as well as any other page that take’s information, and that you must opt-in to the subscription knowingly. So what we as consumers can do on Facebook is investigate these ads and start reporting them. The actions of users is what got these ads removed so we must continue the fight.

When we look at all these affiliate sites they are all hidden by Domains by Proxy. Domains by Proxy was originally instituted to stop spam and other crap you get from being a registered domain holder. I still get a lot of solicitations from domains that are not registered by Domains by Proxy or some other private registration service. The problem is though nearly everyone that runs these types of scams uses the service to hide behind. So we are left with looking only at the terms of service and other information we can find on the payment site. I have found various payment pages and domains and it does not seem like one clear person behind it. So we are dropping all the affiliate sites and going to start digging into who is taking the payment.

When we look at the terms of service on several of these sites we see the terms of service says that it is and I quote “an Internet Property of CoastWest Holdings Ltd” CoastWest Holdings seems to run EarnFastCashWithGoogle, PureLift Ultra, Credit Report America, TvDirect2PC, Green EnergyMax, QuickOnlineCash Pro, Kyle Waitley, EasyWeightLoss Tea, OnlineJobsFast, GoogleSuccess Kit, Johns Workout Tips, GovGrantsDirect, Tina Teeth Whitening Success, PureCleanse, Guarana Pro, Premium Acai Burn, DazzleWhite, Easy White Teeth, MaxProfitSecrets, ResvEdge, and several other sites. Now this list looks familiar, so when we start looking at the terms and conditions of the sites and finding the toll free numbers for the supposed cancelation line, we notice that some of them are related to Click Money, and Some of them relate to NetPro Marketing but when I look at some of the other numbers I found an post on ripoffreport.com, you can find the link to this post in the show notes. This post was from Mark A at Just Think Media who claims that DazzleWhite is a Just Think Media Product, as well as AcaiBurn, PureCleanse, ResV, Credit Report America, Fraud Protection, Insider Secrets, Resv, PureLiftCream, Google Scams, Grant Related, and ID Theft protection. He was kind enough in the email to include all the toll free numbers they are supporting for the products they own and promote.

When we google a few of those they are all related to the scams we are talking about, Okay so we now know who is taking payment on these sites or getting the money from them and that is Just Think Media. Just Think Media is not kind enough to have any real information on the website they run at justthinkmedia.com but they do post jobs on careerbuilder.ca and they say the jobs are located in Sherwood Park Alberta Canada. So that is where Just Think Media seems to be run by a gentleman names Jesse Willms which you can find about jessewillms.com and he claims to own Just Think Media.

Jesse Willms started supposedly selling software on Ebay, and started E-Direct he claims this was a 35 million dollar a year business, he got sued big because he was getting software from Jordan and selling it. In which he settled with Microsoft for an excess of 1 million dollars, Symantec also sued him for a few million. Microsoft’s Statement was and I quote “EDirectSoftware.com one of the largest offenders has already agreed to settle Microsoft’s lawsuit out of court for more than 1 million in cash and property.”.

So after these lawsuits did he resort to scamming? We want your help now to find more information on the people and products we have talked about, so chime in with your information and we can share it next week on As Seen on Television.

[Music Interlude]

So all this talk about scams and shams brings us to our next topic and that is 10 signs to a scam. In order to prevent ourselves from falling victim we must be able to find what is legit and what is not. So we will quickly go over the 10 signs of a scam.

1.) Dont assume that any ad is legit even on trusted sites, web publishers like Scam Times does not endorse the ads on the site and a lot of the times we dont even review or see the ads, Some are shown from the context of the page like Google AdSense. I would say 90% of the ads that show up on scamtimes.com to be a scam, maybe I will use them when I need new content.

2.) Never buy if you feel pressured. If someone is pressuring you for the sale they do not want you to think they just want what you have in your pocket. Always take time to think about the proposal and make sure its right for you, This even goes for buying a car or a house.

3.) Never trust the use of logos, people are constantly using logos like Google, CNN, ABC and others to make you feel comfortable that is all they want you to do, if you see a logo look for a disclaimer every site that uses a logo when it is not endorsed will put some type of information up so they will not get sued.

4.) Dont be tricked by the no experience needed, no skill needed, huge wages and get rich quick. These types of ideas are designed to bring in the people who are in trouble financially or needing something quickly, its to get you hopeful and normally will not work for what you are looking for.

5) Never give out your personal information just to get some information a lot of these sites want your information to see if you qualify those are a red flag and you should never do it. I am willing to bet 100% of people with a credit card qualify.

6.) Read all the fine print, there are links to the terms of service and you should read every line of the terms of service before you ever put your credit card number in. One thing I never thought about until now is that just because you did not hit submit does not mean your credit card number is not known. With JavaScript and the web 2.0 thing just entering the information into the text box will allow the developer of the site to send the information back to the server. I will have to think about this some more but just came to me.

7) Men do not be fooled by the fine women, fancy cars, and wine they are trying to show you the great life to get you wanting it, by saying that you can have this life by purchasing this product they are getting you thinking about the lifestyle and not what they are selling.

8) Never be fooled by a pop up of a live agent on these sites, they are not live agents and all they have is a programmed script to get you to buy. They also just want you to stay on the site. Last one I ran across I asked it “What is the cause of global warming” I was told” This is a once in a lifetime offer, you do not want to miss this!”

9) Always use a search engine before buying anything. take the name of the product and type it into google and ad the word scam such as see what you see. You can not base your whole decision on this however because it could be just a disgruntled person. But always try to find as much information as possible out about the product or service you are about to buy.

10.) Always use your instinct if it’s not feeling right walk away, you will not be happy in the end. Even if the offer is legit and you do not feel good about it you probably will not excel at it. Your feelings have a lot to do with success.

[Music Interlude]
